Key Concept Explanation
Supply Chain is all the activities involved in supplying an end user with a product or service. In supply change management, activities, including, materials, finances, and information is monitored from the supplier/manufacturer to the end user. One of the most significant paradigm shifts of modern business management is that individual businesses no longer compete as solely autonomous entities, but rather as supply chains (Parulekar, 2015). Supply chain management involves the coordination and integration of all of these paths to the end user. I am interested in the topic of supply chain management because it can be applied to any industry.
The article, “Sharing Economy in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Ocicka, 2017)”, discusses the innovative methods that businesses require from supply chain and logistics managers to improve business processes. The author in this article discusses the possibility of a sharing economy to transform business models in supply chain management and logistics. A sharing or collaborative economy can be defined as the preference to pay for assets or services by consumption or on-demand, rather than owning assets permanently or signing long term contracts for services (Ocicka, 2017). The success factors of incorporating this ideology include simultaneous sharing of different assets and integration of their utilization, advanced utilization of the innovative, digital technologies, and continuous improvement of implemented practices.
In comparison, the article, “Management of Social Issues in Supply Chains: A Literature
Review Exploring Social Issues, Actions and Performance Outcomes (Yawar, 2017),” discusses how the social dimension impacts supply chains. The authors completed a study to understand the correlation between social issues, corporate social responsibility (CSR) actions and performance outcomes. It was concluded that the internal and external stakeholders take responsibility over supply chain actions, such as, communication strategies, compliance strategies, and supplier development strategies. If this is done correctly, then the result is positive performance outcomes within the purchasing, supplier, economic, and social aspect of the supply chain.
The article, “The impact of supply chain management on business intelligence (Langlois, 2017)”, discusses impact of the supply chain on business intelligence in private companies. Business intelligence analyzes and integrates software. It provides a set of technologies and products for supplying users with the information they need to answer business questions, and make tactical and strategic business decisions.
A significant function of the supply chain is to provide and process information from the supplier to the client. In our current era, the phrase “Time is Money” is more significant than ever. With this being a primary mindset in business, is a priority of companies to deliver their product on time and make better decisions faster.
The benefit of using business intelligence in supply chain management is that it has given companies the ability to fulfill their supply chain at a reduced cost. Business intelligence applications have the ability to help the company make decisions quickly. The faster the stores send information about what customers buy, the faster the information can be passed on to manufacturers and designers, the faster the supply chain can react and contributes to the optimization of supply chains which are the issue in the search for competitive advantages (Langlois, 2017).

When we are seeking to improve problems in our lives, we should take the time to reach out to Christ first. Supply Chain Management is a broad topic that can be applied to any company that provides a tangible product to an end user. In order to remain competitive in supply chain management, the six sigma methodology can be used to provide an efficient process. The Six Sigma method focuses on reducing variation, measuring defects and improving the quality of products, processes and services. Apply six sigma effectively in Supply Chain Management manages typical disruption issues in supply chain as it ensures the delivery of the most appropriate product, in right time, in right place with the least cost to the customer (Madhani, 2016).
