Discussion Question 1:

Download Project Libre and review its content, then post your comments and/or questions about the tool as the first response to discussion question 1 (due day 3).

The second part of the first module’s discussion question 1 is: Based on the PMBOK and EBSCO / ProQuest readings, attend to the alignment of the 5 process groups and 10 knowledge areas key points you found in your reading. Why do you believe they were identified as key?  (due day 3).

Discussion Question 2:

Identify a project you want to complete throughout the class. This project will be referred to at different times throughout the course and you will provide a project plan using Project Libre at one point demonstrating the use of a project tool and inclusion of the elements required within any project plan. Post in this exercise what your project is, the scope, purpose, and expected outcome for the project to be considered successful.

This project can be something around the home, something you need to complete for a work-related reason, really anything that requires steps to be completed (due day 5).

MOD 2

Discussion Question 1:

How important is the analysis of key stakeholders and the criticality of this activity for the success of a project? Do you personally believe each element of the Talent Triangle ® is important to a PMP and for a successful project? Explain. Add personal observation and experience where applicable.

Discuss the key competency and skills (Talent Triangle ®) required for a project manager to be successful, include a discussion on how the size and/or complexity of a project may change the project management skills. Add personal observation and experience where applicable.

Discussion Question 1:

Why are the key aspects of project integration management there? In other words, why are they important, and what might happen if one or more where not present during a project?

Discussion Question 2:

Using Project Libre, develop a project plan, that identifies the key hierarchy steps of the project you identified in module 1 and at least one level lower describing the actual work to be performed. You will need to identify any predecessors for a step, in other words, if you cannot do the next step without having completed a previous step that should be noted. Post the Project Libre file (“xxxxx”.pod) in the second discussion forum.

Discussion Question 1:

Explain why it is critical for project success to have an accurate project scope and if the scope changes what is required (included in last week’s module). Can a project still be successful without all of the parties listed in the PMBOK?

Discussion Question 2:

Develop a chart showing the inputs required from other project documents required to develop the scope of a project and the outputs of a project scope document. Please don’t copy another author’s work for any reason, you may use it for input with citations/references.  

Suggestion: create columns with input on the left, document description in the middle, and scope output on the far right, then fill it in using the textual information.

Discussion Question 1:

Question – (due day 3) Create an original post and reply to classmates, if any, on the various elements of project scheduling describing each and using your chosen project from module 1 as an example. How long, based on the information in module 5 do you anticipate your project to take, how did you calculate this?
