Historical Event

The historical event that I consider interesting in the American history is about John F. Kennedy challenging Americans to land in the moon. The event was of interest to me because he showed good leadership by building the confidence and pressure towards scientists to strife for the better. The concept of landing on the moon was initiated by the fear of the Soviet Union was surpassing the United States on matters of technology and science. In 1957, space race and the first man-made satellites were launched by the Soviets (Klugewicz, 2015). The hard-work and determination of the Soviet Union became a challenge to the United States government including the president pushing for targeting a bigger challenge to showcase the technology and capabilities. John Kennedy delivered his speech in the Congress in 1961 where he led the nation towards achieving the set goal of landing in the moon.

President John Kennedy supported his argument that we are to land in the moon because it is hard and challenging and we should be ready to accept the challenges instead of postponing(Klugewicz, 2015). The determination of John Kennedy in fulfilling the mission acted as an inspiration to the nation that later succeeded in landing in the moon though President John failed to see the dream. The ultimate success that United States successfully landed in the moon boosted their confidence in a time when they were experiencing Vietnam War threat that targets breaking the American society bond. In the historical event there are multiple issues which are not clear about what basically pushed John Kennedy on the decision of landing in the moon? John K. Kennedy was assassinated before the success of his American dream of landing in the moon, was there a relationship between the events?
